Performed HLA blotting on maternal blood in quality control laboratory. Studied the role of Syndecan-1 (SDC) in regulating immune homeostasis and pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Investigated the hypothesis that SDC-1 regulates the homeostasis of adaptive immune cells (B and T cells) and the architecture of secondary lymphoid organs in SDC-1 sufficient and deficient Balb/c mice. Dissected and studied secondary lymphoid organs of Balb/c WT and SDC knockout mice.Stained secondary lymphoid organs with surface markers CD3 and B220. Used fluorescent microscopy to analyze surface markers.Results were presented at a poster and powerpoint presentation with other students from the DSIP program. Research findings were summarized in a laboratory report.
