Training Specialist
CurrentTraining Specialist• Develop, facilitate and manage professional development opportunities for the BC literacynetwork, including virtual and in-person training and the biennial Decoda Literacy Conference - including content development, communicating with presenters, hiring and training for volunteers and managing registration• Apply instructional design methodology and adult learning principles on professional development workshops and webinars for literacy practitioners on topics such as reading/writing and assessments• Develop and implement evaluation criteria for webinars, continuously improving webinars based on survey feedback• Support the achievement of the strategic vision of Decoda• Collaborate with the Decoda team on a variety of shared initiativesProgram Manager - Adult Literacy • Run and facilitate monthly meetings for Community Adult Literacy Programs (CALP) practitioners and the Ministry of Post Secondary and Future Skills• Helps coordinate the PACE (Pacific Association of Continuing Education) Bursary from Vancouver Foundation, which focuses on reducing barriers by providing financial assistances to adults in community-based adult learning programs• Collaborate with the PSFS ministry and stakeholders to determine needed webinars and workshops based on contractual deliverables and practitioner needs• Provide mentoring, support and resources for practitioners across the province• Share up-to-date information on literacy related events, news and opportunities through newsletter emailsThe Westcoast Reader - Production and Instructional Materials Editor• Collaborate with The Westcoast Reader team to develop, publish and market 10 issues of thepaper annually• Create monthly Teachers' Notes, educational resources for educators • Develop online material for The Westcoast Reader website - www.thewestcoastreader.com• Keep current in the fields of literacy and language learning
