About Jade Davies

I am a PhD graduate from the Quadram Institute Bioscience in Norwich, UK. My research explored the role of anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacteria (specifically Bilophila wadsworthia) in the human gut microbiota. During my PhD, I gained extensive experience in molecular biology and microbiology techniques in the lab, in addition to using bioinformatics to study the genomes and gene expression of microbes.I’m enthusiastic about utilising my skillset as a research scientist and microbiologist to enhance our collective understanding of microbes, their roles in health and disease, and how we can harness these interesting micro-organisms for good.

    Phd Student
    Quadram Institute Oct 2019 - May 2024
    Norwich, England, United Kingdom
My PhD project explored the role of sulfate-reducing bacteria within the human gut, with a specific interest in the bacterium Bilophila wadsworthia. During my PhD, I investigated how Bilophila, a member of the microbial community in our guts, interacts with us and our wider microbiota in a diet-dependent manner. Norwich Research Park Doctoral Training Partnership (NRPDTP) funded by BBSRC.
