About Jade Kenny
Hello there, I am a Media Degree Graduate and currently working in - you guessed it... Finance!I work for Collas Crill Law Firm, in Guernsey, as a Trainee Group Accountant but the work I do reaches out to the three other jurisdictions we work in across the world. I would consider adaptability one of my main strengths, when it comes to the work I do, as I finished university with a Media Degree and no professional financial background. Now I am considered a key member of our Finance team and I interact with all departments across the Group.
Listed skills include Video Editing, Photoshop, Cinematography, Photography, and 9 others.

Trainee Group Accountant
When I was promoted to Trainee Group Accountant, I was immediately expanding my body of work away from day-to-day Finance administration to more firm work. Although I did continue, and occasionally still do continue, to help assist administration in the case of illness or holiday leave - my work is much more centrally focused on the entire business at a higher management level. A lot of my work is now focused on financial controls; I still continue to reconcile every bank the firm uses on both a weekly and monthly basis. I am in regular contact with the admin teams across our four offices to ensure all bank transactions are posted in a timely manner and agree to the bank statement. I also solely look after our Accounts Payable function for the firm, I input all office costs througout the business as well as being in regular contact with suppliers externally and budget holders internally to ensure the correct process and information has been recieved. Once again, I work in tandem with the administration teams to align their requirements and needs for Accounts Payable payment runs - ensuring the accounting system agrees at all times. I also assist with the firms annual audit; I have had instances of taking a Financial Statement for one of our legal entities and completing the process from production to submitting it to our Finance Director for review. Over the years, I have been in regular contact during this period with our auditors and can answer any requests or queries in relation to the whole firm audit. Unlike many people I have spoken to; I quite enjoy the audit period for the firm! It's quite satisfying to me to watch us clean up and organise an entire year in the life of Collas Crill and present it in a Financial statement to be reviewed - all with my eager help. The firm has also recently updated their practice management system; after 6 years at the firm it was a big change for me but I am happy to say I contributed in the transfer and integration.
Financial Administrator
Finance AdministratorAs a finance administrator at Collas Crill, I cover financial services work over four different offshore jurisdictions. I mainly work in the BVI and Guernsey jurisdictions but also work closely with Cayman and Jersey. I was also the treasurer for Collas Crill's CSR Committee - MAD, aiding both community and staff in charitable matters. I then became the chairman of our Health & Wellbeing Committee for 2021; which focused on staff health during these volatile COVID times through fitness, charitable and social initiatives. - Responsible for transactions through departments . Dispute Resolution & Corporate Finance . Property, both UK and local conveyancing . Estate Administration . Internal Staff Expenses, both on corporate cards and personal cash- Bookkeeping and reconciling all Collas Crill accounts across the Group- Committee Treasurer & Chairman on behalf of Guernsey . Handling all cash that comes in and out of CSR, both physical and online . Organizing charity events and providing advice on sponsorships . Leading a team of volunteers to organise and participate in various staff initiatives alongside my usual body of work
Retail Sales
After graduating university, I had a window of time where I was trying to find some full-time work. As I was living at home, I took it upon myself to be recruited once again in the grocery store retails business to continue to earn money while searching for the ideal job. I was recruited part-time at Waitrose; as I was unsure how long the process would take. However, I was lucky enough to find a temporary role by December 2017 so my time with Waitrose only lasted a few months. In that time, my role was very similar to that of my first part-time job at M&S as they are the same sort of business. However, now that I was older and I had more flexibility... I was mainly introduced to do the first shift very early in the morning to get stock out to prepare for the day. I would operate around the store before opening and usually finish an hour or so after opening hours. Stocking shelves, tidying stations and answering any general customer queries for that last alloted time before the end of my shift.
Professional Freelancer
As part of my course at Southampton Solent University, I was required to conduct a certain amount of work experience on a range of different units. I achieved 100 hours from various departments at the university; ranging from admin work for Solent Learning & Teaching Institute, to filming and editing a gaming conference and photography for Solent Futures; the employment department for students. The closer I came to graduating the more I expanded my portfolio into interacting with professional clients, outside of the university, to prepare myself for becoming a professional freelancer.
Supervisor
While balancing my university work and social life I also worked at McColls 18 hours a week and trained to become a supervisor with them. My duties included but were not restricted to: organising produce on shop floor and in storage, operating the cash register and the PayPoint machine, being aware of shoplifters and underage customers attempting to buy illegal items - this was a very common risk in my store, as well as handling any complaints or queries that a customer has. Although it may not be recommended to work 18 hours a week, as well as my studies, I think it shows a determination and drive to balance both. Something that many other university students may not be doing - especially in their third and final year before they graduated.
Assistant Manager
This was a temporary job I had for just over a month with Quivers Shots. Being an assistant manager in Quivers meant that the reins were ultimately handed over to me the nights I was working. Not only was I selling alcoholic beverages on commission, but I would also manage all the money earned by myself and the other employees as well as monitor deliveries and manage all the stock. I also had a responsibility to manage the paperwork for each of the 4 club venues and keep up healthy and concise communication with the venue owners. All of this would be done in a sometimes hostile work environment as we would be working late into the night and with drunk customers. I think this is the clearest example of me being able to work well and efficiently under pressure and my ability to deal with any form of customer.
Customer Advisor
This was my first part time job and during that time I received multiple raises and an employee of the month award. My main duties were to operate the cash register, organize stock on shop floor & in storage and handle customer queries. But throughout my time there, I also worked above my position - sometimes as a Till Controller. There would be occasions where I would be organising employee breaks and their shifts, handling the money going into and out of the till (aside from customer transactions) and also answering the phone to any customer queries. I worked in both the food and the clothes department and I have had experience in two of the three M&S branches in Guernsey.
