For as long as I can remember, I was always going to go to uni. As a kid, I didn’t really know why this was important – or what I was even going to do with my life – but going to uni after school was something I knew I wanted to do. For whatever reason that may be.Fast forward to my first year of uni and, like a lot of people, I still didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life, but I was pretty sure that my psychology and legal classes weren’t it. After deferring for six months, I was determined that I wouldn’t be a uni dropout – after knowing it was something I had wanted for so long – and so I turned to my amazing Mum, who always knows me better than I know myself.Mum very rarely gives me advice, she always wants me to decide for myself (ugh – annoying) but I guess she made an exception here because I was so very lost. She reminded me that I had always enjoyed writing (you should see some of the beautifully “published” books I put together at 5…) and so maybe journalism would be a fit.After changing my degree, I was halfway through the first year – and already not really enjoying journalism either (if something tragic happens in someone’s life, can’t we just leave them in peace?). In my second semester, I accidentally took a PR course and got hit with that beautiful, sweet “aha” moment of finding your life’s purpose. Comms/Marketing/PR – they are all different but they are all the same to me, in that – I love doing them.I don’t really like people, but I love helping them figure out what makes them so unique. I’m not an overly social person, but I massively enjoy building genuine relationships with people I truly value and respect. I don’t have clients, I have people who choose to partner with us and market their business in line with their values, their offering, and the needs and wants of their customers. It’s about them, not us – just the way I like it.As well as running a marketing agency, I’m also an aspiring author, reluctant public speaker, serial collaborator, endless ideas generator and crazy cat lady. I love what I do, I love my team, I love my town and I love that I get to damn well do what I please every day. That’s my #marketinglife
