With a deep-rooted passion for journalism, I have cultivated a diverse set of skills in news reporting that now inform my journey as a first-year law student at Southern University Law Center.Before embarking on this new path, I served as a News Reporter and fill-in News Anchor at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, LA, where I shot, edited, and crafted compelling news reports that engaged our audience. My experiences prior to KSLA include valuable internships at respected news stations at KPRC-TV in Houston, TX, WDSU-TV in New Orleans, LA, and a production assistant role at WVUE-TV, also in New Orleans.Transitioning from journalism to law, I am excited to leverage the skills I developed in my previous career—such as critical thinking, effective communication, and thorough research—which are directly transferable to law. My background in storytelling has equipped me to present complex information clearly and persuasively, a vital asset in the legal field.My academic journey at Loyola University New Orleans was marked by a dedication to crafting award-winning stories, culminating in a top 20 placement in the national Hearst Journalism Awards Program for television news competition—an achievement that positions me as only the second student in my university's history to do so.Beyond my professional and academic pursuits, I find joy in creative endeavors such as drawing, cooking, reading, and volunteering. I am also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Federal Bar Association, where I continue to foster connections and growth within both the journalism and legal fields.
