Graduate Research Assistant
CurrentIn my current role as a Graduate Research Assistant, my studies are focusing on the immunomodulatory effects of a specific metabolite in uterus of broodmares to aid in resolution of endometritis. I am aiding in the breeding of a research mare herd, checking mares for pregnancies, and collecting stallions for semen evaluation and artificial insemination. The summer of 2023, I helped breed over 50 mares with 34 successful pregnancies. The summer of 2024, I bred over 30 mares, over half of which were susceptible to PBIE and had 12 successful pregnancies. I was also responsible for managing the foaling of the 2023 mares, suturing in foal alerts in each mare, and checking placentas. Additionally, I mentored and shared my expertise in techniques I am proficient in to LMU veterinary students as well as incoming University of Kentucky graduate students. I am proficient in culturing, cytology, PMSG ELISA assays, PMBC isolations, Luminex, and RNA extractions.
