In my current role as a Graduate Research Assistant, my studies are focusing on the immunomodulatory effects of a specific metabolite in uterus of broodmares to aid in resolution of endometritis. I am aiding in the breeding of a research mare herd, checking mares for pregnancies, and collecting stallions for semen evaluation and artificial insemination. The summer of 2023, I helped breed over 50 mares with 34 successful pregnancies. The summer of 2024, I bred over 30 mares, over half of which were susceptible to PBIE and had 12 successful pregnancies. I was also responsible for managing the foaling of the 2023 mares, suturing in foal alerts in each mare, and checking placentas. Additionally, I mentored and shared my expertise in techniques I am proficient in to LMU veterinary students as well as incoming University of Kentucky graduate students. I am proficient in culturing, cytology, PMSG ELISA assays, PMBC isolations, Luminex, and RNA extractions.

As a five-year member of the Kentucky Rifle Team, I was able to have the opportunity to serve in a variety of different roles and accept several awards. I worked in both animal husbandry and veterinary services during the summer of 2022 where I cleaned and washed rodent cages, shadowed treatment of reported medical cases, shadowed rodent, nonhuman primate, and canine surgeries, and restrained canines for blood draws and IV insertion. In the winter, my role was to provide enrichment for nonhuman primates and canines.

As an undergraduate teaching assistant for Equine Anatomy, I set up laboratory stations for class, answered student questions during lab, helped with demonstrations during lectures, created take-home assignments for students, and assisted in grading homework and exams.
