About Jade Palmer
Throughout my industry experience I have actively learned from colleagues throughout many parts of the business’ I have worked for to understand each step in the value chain. I believe in this fundamental understanding of how each unit works, to achieve the best results from the start, and understanding the ‘why’ of the decisions we make daily. In my current role as a structural geologist, I undertake regional to mine scale structural analyses, in-pit mapping of geological structures and stratigraphy (both in person field mapping and UAV drone imagery), drill planning for geotechnical RC holes to target geological structure and generation of 3D structural models. Multi-dataset integration with a strong focus on geophysics for regional analysis allows me to work with different business units for highest value input to the team. It’s a fantastic position to work with a variety of different stakeholders to integrate and embed structural geology in workflows. For example, to the modelling geologists how the difference in angle of a modelled bedded unit can have an influence on the final pit wall stability, or to the mine geologists who may find the model over or underperforming based on the structures which we are now able to map in the pit walls. To achieve this cross-team collaboration, I can have a down to earth chat with, or clearly communicate geological ideas with a diverse group of people. I am committed to being an active member of the wider geological community and hold professional memberships with the AusIMM, AIG and GSA.
Listed skills include Narrow Vein Gold, Underground Geology, Mine Geology, Passionate And Enthusiastic, and 21 others.

Specialist Structural Geologist - Copper
Currently working on the Winu Project in Western Australia's Paterson Province. I integrate and analyze a wide range of datasets including airbourne and surface geophysics, Drillhole data (geophysics, petrophysics, Tele-viewer and interval data) and material published on the Paterson to provide structural geology support to the Winu Geology, Hydrogeology and Exploration teams.
Specialist Structural Geologist - Iron Ore
Working for the Mine Engineering team – Geotechnical, my role as structural Geologist was to complete crest and pit wall mapping in the Pilbara both in the field and from UAV imagery to provide structural data for geotechnical analysis, as well as build and maintain structural and geological models ranging from order of magnitude (OoM) studies to active mine areas. My area of work was Greater Brockman which covers an area of ~1600km² and contains 19 active pits. This required a great deal or organization and time management. Engagement and the ability to communicate clearly with all stakeholders is a key part of the job as we liaise with both Perth office, field and site teams daily. My strength in this role was to ensure geological risk is modelled quickly and communicated effectively. Show less
