Community Health Intern
At Piedmont Health Services, my peers and I assist medical scribes, medical assistants (MAs), and providers by checking in patients, taking accurate vitals, and documenting the reasons for their visits. Through our detailed work, we support the provision of comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, primarily serving rural and underprivileged areas ranging across multiple sites. Our services include Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Dental Care, Nutrition, WIC, Pharmacy, and Elder Care. Under continued guidance, we have the opportunity to shadow a variety of medical professionals and procedures within the same facility, enhancing our skills in basic care tasks such as taking blood pressure. This experience allows us to contribute meaningfully to the mission of this nonprofit organization while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the healthcare field that provides invaluable skills in future health professional roles.
