I designed and implemented independent research through my undergraduate honors thesis studying the effects of chronic stress on learning and memory in female adolescent rats supervised by Professor Joseph LeDoux and Professor Chiye Aoki. My abstract was published in NYU's undergraduate journal of research, Inquiry, and I presented my finding that chronic stress in adolescence resulted in maladaptive learning and memory in adulthood at the Undergraduate Research Conference at NYU. I secured a competitive undergraduate grant of $1000 to support this project and earned the 2020 Hillary Anne Citrin Memorial Award for Outstanding Departmental Honors Thesis and a $2000 stipend upon submission of my work.Additionally, I:- Assisted in conceptualization and implementation of experiments, running Pavlovian threat conditioning of rats, coding freezing behavior, and performing statistical analyses under the direction of Professor Lorenzo Díaz-Mataix- Observed surgical techniques on rats through Designer Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs (DREADD) injections to visualize cells expressing norepinephrine in the central amygdala via fluorescence microscopy
