About Jaewon Ryu

Jaewon Ryu, MD, JD, is the CEO of Risant Health, a nonprofit organization created by Kaiser Permanente to expand and accelerate the adoption and success of value-based care. An ER physician by training, Dr. Ryu’s career has spanned payers, providers, and government – holding leadership roles at organizations like Geisinger, Kaiser Permanente, Humana, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Throughout his career, he has helped to shape and influence health policy, including a full two-term stint on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC). Dr. Ryu also serves on the boards of several organizations, including the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the Commonwealth Fund.
