I am an applied social scientist with a background in labour economics and employment relations. My research focuses on patterns of work organisation and HRM, and their implications for job quality and productivity. Much of my current work is investigating the links between firms and wage inequality, using linked employer-employee data. My research has been published in a range of 3* and 4* journals, including The Economic Journal, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Human Relations, Industrial Relations, Labour Economics, European Journal of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management Journal. I have also co-authored a number of frequently-cited books on British employment relations. My research has been covered by all of the major news outlets and I have made appearances on national television and radio.
