Juan Antonio Gil Bellés Email and Phone Number
Honestly, I can't say that the job that I'm doing now is the one I have planned when I was young. One thing is true, I wanted to work as a computer technician, more specifically as a programmer since I was sneaking into my uncle's office and turning on his Amstrad CPC 6128 to write my first BASIC code lines. I've always found this like a kind of magic: to write some commands, execute, and then something happened. Well, most of the times nothing happened but a list of error codes. But even that was fascinating to me: to research the code lines to find that missing comma, that double quote that made all a mess. I am privileged, and luckily, I could start working as a programmer when I was nineteen. And very soon I had started to manage small teams of people. Then they were 'my colleagues' programmers like me that were part of the same team, and I was no more than a senior profile who was training them, was organizing the workload, was responsible for the relationship with the upper staff and with the customers... Then was when I was starting to split my work time between the technical and the managerial.Along my career, I didn't plan exactly every step I have done. The opportunities, the projects, the challenges come in an unsuspected and, at the same time, natural manner. And it's your chance to decide if you are going to take that train or not. As I've said before, I didn't plan to become a Cybersecurity professional. It was a consequence of the people which I worked with, the former projects where I have worked in, the books I've read... And I have to say that I have some tendency to move out of my comfort zone. Practically I must learn what I must do every single day, because it is new to me and, at the same time, I can apply all the knowledge that I've been accumulated over all those years, with the successful and the non-successful projects. And that's wonderful. Now, I'm in a new challenge. I've moved to the Innovation team in my Cybersecurity company and I'm in charge to build an innovation value proposal in the city of Valencia linked to the Telefonica Tech Cybersecurity & Cloud Center. I don't know how this is going to be, I hope it's going to be all right; I'll do my best. But, in any case, I'm still feeling the same fascination as when I was writing BASIC in my uncle's Amstrad. When a project milestone is achieved, I feel that it is like a kind of magic.
