West Chester, Pa

I am currently working with Dr. Maresh at West Chester University in collaboration with a research group at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), who are looking to determine "how variation in feeding performances and tool use affects dietary specialization and energetic profitability acquisition within a population." We are working to determine the caloric value of eating hard-shelled crab species for southern sea otters (Enhydra lutris nereis) within the Monterey Bay, California using several techniques to obtain as much as possible of the inner, energy-rich soft tissue for caloric analysis using bomb calorimetry. We also were recently awarded a grant for our supplies from the College of the Sciences and Mathematics Undergraduate Research Award.

West Chester University

I am currently volunteering within Dr. Maresh of West Chester University's lab directed at understanding the role of terrestrial mesopredators in both disturbed and intact ecosystems from a bioenergetics perspective. We are studying the prey selection of the northern elephant seal to understand if there is an energy benefit for why they are diving deeper for certain species of fish. I press a freeze-dried fish into a 1 gram pellet and use a bomb calorimeter to determine their energy density.

Temple University

I worked as an intern this summer in the Spigler Lab within the Biology Department at Temple University focusing on Plant Ecology. We are working in the lab and out in the field to test the Selective Agents of Phenotypic Selection Experiment on the Sabatia angularis flower.

I am a third grade camp counselor working 40 hrs a week to help make sure kids have a fun and safe summer.
