- Monitor all DP system parameters including weather, current etc.- In-depth knowledge of the DP-system and its positioning systems (DGPS & acoustics)- Familiarization with Rig Operations Manual, equipment manuals and regulations- Plan and prepare upcoming operations in detail, ensuring time effectiveness- Maintain good two-way communication with key personnel- Reports all known problems, even if minor, to rig management- Update all marine navigation publications and navigational charts- Monitor and track marine traffic within close proximity- Officer of the Watch when on tour- Voyage planning- In charge of navigation and Watch Officer’s duties during transit- Train and mentor trainee DP Operators (develop onboard training program)- Upkeep and use of dedicated checks list and logs- Assure that administrative tasks were completed timely and accurately- Maintaining an up-to-date file system and orderly office- Operate and monitor the DP System to maintain the rig over the well or within anacceptable range of its target position- Ensure that the DP system is repaired if required and pre-tested between well locationsand is in 100% operational condition prior to arriving on location
