Network Engineer
Graduated from the MOR Associates Leadership program 2018 Helped design / implement and support building wireless using Cisco products on campus. Learned and utilized Ekahau for pre-planning, implementation and site surveys of wireless upgrades on campus Helped to design / implement networking infrastructure and wireless for the 2015 opening of Baxter Arena, including installing an entirely different wireless vendor (Xirrus, now Riverbed). Given the complexity that is arena wireless, continued to improve upon and tweak the wireless settings over the next 3 years for 7000+ attendees. Helped developed a static spectrum plan on the 5GHz bands using only 20MHz wide channels due to the 170 APs in a single building. 120 of them were for the upper and lower bowl alone. We dispersed the 2.4GHz radios as the Xirrus products would easily run two 5GHz channels at the time per AP. Performed troubleshooting with Chanalyzer / Wi-Spy adapter to verify any existing spectrum conflicts or bad SNR problems. Setup and installed Cisco WCS 5520s in HA mode, as well as maintained and upgraded the controllers for any security or operational performance issues. Using WCS / Prime, mapped buildings and environments that contained Cisco 2602i, 2702i and 3702i APs. Also installed 2802i units to allow for automatic reduction in an over saturated 2.4GHz environment. Implemented the core restructuring for the university around ALE gear due to budget restraints, collapsing the distribution layer into the core layer. Helped to design and implement Cisco ISE across the entire University of Nebraska System, developing policies and implementing radius and TACACS+ for use. Helped to develop the SSID project where we would reduce the total number of SSIDs to only three, Onboarding, Guest access and the Secure network (eduroam)Supported all firewall changes on the Cisco ASA and the Palo Alto firewalls.Supported DNS implementations including Infoblox, QIP and EfficientIP
