SimplePBJ is the complete solution to CMS-mandated Payroll-Based Journal compliance reporting for skilled nursing facilities. It enables users to assemble, validate, correct, and submit their required staffing data with one simple tool. Staffing files of any format, from any system, can be imported and mapped to the CMS-required PBJ codes. Its proprietary error checker flags issues and inconsistencies allowing users to correct and add missing data while preventing rejected submissions. The Five Star Predictor calculates a facility’s score, prior to submission, and allows them to run “what-if” scenarios to test resident and staffing-level changes. Visual Dashboard allows users to view their data using interactive charts to quickly identify inconsistencies and compare data across facilities. Benchmark allows users to review the CMS published staffing levels for any facility nationwide—including the ability to compare facilities against one another. Finally, Sender allows facilities to submit the data directly to CMS from SimplePBJ and maintain their historical submissions, avoiding the tedious process of connecting to the CMS VPN, PBJ, and CASPER systems.Jaime created ezPBJ in 2016 and soon partnered with Don and Jenn Feige to bring it to market. During the following two years, the product and customer base grew exponentially. In 2018, ezPBJ was acquired by SimpleLTC to help form the compliance and software division of Briggs Healthcare. In 2020, ezPBJ was rebranded to SimplePBJ and in 2021 SimpleLTC was acquired by Netsmart. Until his departure, Jaime led all product architecture, development and hosting efforts for SimplePBJ. SimplePBJ remains the gold standard for PBJ reporting, used by several thousand skilled nursing facilities, and tens of thousands of users, across the country.
