TIC connects industry professionals, vendors and recruiters to discover opportunities in education, training, seminars, research, events and employment opportunities. In a previous life I engaged in OCONUS Humint, Finint and Techint.

Provista was an Angel-funded company. I was hired for non-executive position fixing troubled accounts which led to me leading the company from near-bankruptcy to one of the top 100 Network Integration Companies (per NetworkVar Magazine). I taught classes in operating systems, network technology, database technology and database programming. I led the sales process - largest project was a multi-year multi-million dollar project involving machine-learning via Telco Central Office switches. Prior to my departure, GE made a bid for the company.

This was my own self-funded company. I raised money for clients, helped sell companies, performed M&A Consulting in mining and Oil & Gas for a laundry list of companies such as Amoco, Texaco Trading, etc. My software-based economic models incorporated Artificial Neural Networks and other methods which were "leading edge" in that time. This work took me to Latin America and satellites of the former Soviet Union + Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, etc. I hosted Trade Mission "Round-tables" involving Former USSR Vice Consul General, Vladimir Vasin, of the San Francisco Embassy, in 1990 and early 1991 + head of ENAP, Chilean National Oil Company.

Bentek was boot-strapped by private investors. I was hired to code a Natural Gas transportation and interconnect pricing system; wellhead to city-gate. I wrote software, performed customer-site installs and remote troubleshooting. The system was installed on IBM Mainframes running MVS/TSO, VM/CMS; because system was written in FOCUS it ran on DEC/Vax VMS, Novell Netware File servers, Unix, and DOS. I was part of team which created first CD with oil exploration data on it; I was the only person in Denver with a 9-track tape drive attached to a Novell LAN to process a full 9-track tape of EBCDIC data. This company was sold to IHS in Denver.

GAEC was a VC-funded energy company. I was hired to dissolve Petro-Lewis/Energetics Limited Partnerships. To do this I used an RDBMS to store the complex leasehold data for later assembly into assignments. I performed all PC-based economic modeling of proposed asset acquisitions, and divestitures, in Rocky Mountain Region, Gulf Coast USA, offshore and Mid-Continent using software tools. I was part of team which packaged up GAEC assets for sale to Presidio Oil & Gas.

Montech was a broken Angel-funded company when I joined. I was recruited as President, at age 23, to find an exit. It was a complex electronic device, used in SCADA systems which failed field-trials in Philippines prior to my arrival. I re-focused sales and marketing efforts upon non-combustible chemical and EPA Superfund sites. The technology was a Hall-effect sensor which used a Motorola 6502 microprocessor. This is the first time I was introduced to machine-learning methods to evaluate liquid-level sensor data. Company was sold to a liquefied Carbon Dioxide Co.

I managed the LAN inside the Detail Engineering Center at a time when 3COM, Novell, and IBM were vying to control the LAN - at a time when Novell built a file server. I also handled procurement of optical switching equipment from NEC. I learned Intel x86 assembler and Operating System basics, 4GL's, Prolog, and assembly language. Prolog was the 'lingua franca' of AI in those days - I wrote AI-assisted handicapping software for horse and dog racing. Using variables from "Daily Racing Form" my software printed tip sheets which were sold to pro gamblers at the track.

I was head of mapping department as a pencil & ink map maker. PPC, a public company, was sold to Ladd Petroleum Corporation - a General Electric Subsidiary. While working at PPC, I moonlighted at USWest in the 'Materiel Resources' spin-out. Located inside the Central Office Engineering Center I was working on Local Area Network technology from Novell (Arcnet) and IBM (Token-ring). 3Com was just getting ramped up. I taught myself how to write software in languages other than BASIC (Intel asm, Zylog asm and Motorola asm, FOCUS, Oracle, dBase, c, prolog).
