Having worked with developing standard operating procedures previously, I knew how to implement them in order to maintain compliance. This is applicable for permitting, bidding, utility engineering, and many other functions. In addition to this, I conducted inspections for large-scale construction projects like bridge reconstructions and rehabilitation projects. I had to know DOT specs, current regulations, and how to document data for road signs, culverts, and pavement conditions which made me successful in asset management.After mastering all the aspects of this position, I received a promotion to a higher-profile position so I could demonstrate my capacity for handling responsibilities beyond what I already was doing. I look for any opportunity to have my skills be utilized to their greatest potential.

As I transitioned into the professional sphere, I brought skills from my environmental research position. Through the experience as a project monitor, I gained knowledge of hazardous materials abatement and worked tirelessly with crew supervisors, project managers, and clients. I also worked in an environmental research lab setting, assisting graduate and Ph.D. candidates with their projects. This created the foundation of knowing how to use project management to guide projects and processes, keeping the end goal in mind, which proved invaluable in this position and each successive role I’ve had, moving forward.In this position, I took those skills further by training team members so everyone understood and could implement correct processes. With an eye to improving quality control, I performed testing and gave demonstrations which expanded our community outreach efforts. These gave me the confidence necessary to move forward in my career.
