I am a management consultant with experience serving space, defense, intelligence community, and homeland security clients. I have delivered a full range of services, including strategy development and implementation; operating model design; organizational restructuring; executive-level functional and mission governance and management; transformation, change, and program management; business and mission prioritization; and market, organizational, and capability/gap assessment.I am professionally passionate about two things: national security (with an appreciation that it is but one priority amongst many in a democratic republic) and management (with a core belief that generalist managers are a key driver of value in any enterprise). I get to deliver at that intersection every day at Deloitte.I am an evangelist of the journalist David Epstein’s arguments in Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World. In that vein, I think incessantly about the philosopher Isaiah Berlin’s essay on “hedgehogs” and “foxes”: in a world that wants everyone to be a “hedgehog” with big ideas and clear brands, I am on a never-ending quest to be the “fox” who brings together my diverse interests in history, forecasting, science, psychology, and philosophy to think about and attack different problems with different people and approaches. At Deloitte, I bring together diverse teams (of insiders and outsiders, specialists and generalists, newcomers and experts) to work on our clients’ most challenging problems.Born in the Great State of New Jersey, I eagerly await the day when my native people can rightfully exercise exclusive sovereignty over Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
