The software supports automating bioinformatics workflows, built-in data provenance tracking, semantic types, and running on systems ranging from laptops to HPC clusters and the cloud.• Core engineer for scikit-bio, an open source Python bioinformatics library integrated with the scientific Python stack. Co-presented at SciPy 2015 and represented bioinformaticians at Data Structures for Data Science (DS4DS), an exclusive working group held by leaders of the scientific Python community.• Lead engineer for Keemei, a Google Sheets add-on for validating tabular bioinformatics file formats. Started as a personal side project before being funded and presented in a scientific publication.• Core engineer of the BIOM file format and Python library for efficiently representing sparse biological observation matrices. This file format was used by the Earth Microbiome Project to represent over 15,000 samples and millions of observations.• Co-authored 18 peer-reviewed publications in the field of microbiome science, including 3 first-author publications.
