Three years removed from receiving my M.B.A. and working in sales, and I realized I needed a change. After evaluating several different fields, I came across Business Intelligence and Data Analysis and found my home. Having played sports and been around 'statistics and data' my whole life, something about taking data and using it to help people improve their companies, like coaches and teams use it to help players improve, really resonated with me. I feel that I am capable of performing any job at a high level, given the proper amount of time to train and prepare, which was a driving factor on why I decided to pursue a career change in BI and data analysis. I finished my undergraduate degree in 3-years, followed immediately by my master's in Management in 2-years. The summer after I finished my master's I got my current job as the Sales Lead for a local septic company. In my time at this company I have added over 240+ new accounts, including 130 in my first 12 months as the only sales person at the company.However, I knew sales was not my passion and needed to find something I was passionate about. The idea of getting a third degree was not attractive to me, and that is when I found the TripleTen program and their Business Intelligence and Data Analysis course. This course was perfect for me as I already have a strong background in business, and adding data analytics was the perfect way to diversify my skillset.The course has been exactly what I had hoped for and I look forward to learning new skills with each new sprint. I am currently halfway through the course, with designs to finish in December of 2024. At this point, I have learned valuable skills such as Advanced Excel, SQL and Tableau and am preparing to learn Power BI and Python (among other skills) before the course is over.Equipped with these new skills, I am excited to get started in my new career path. I hope to break into the Business Intelligence realm to help companies reach their full potential, and if possible break into the sports industry.Aside from my professional aspirations, I am an active person whole enjoys playing golf, volleyball and other recreational activities like snowboarding.
