The last ten years of my professional career have been a hodgepodge of freelance and contracted work. I've been an academic coach, a barista, a freelance stage director, an arts administrator, a gallery curator, and of course I've risen through the ranks of the warehouse at NY-based electronics firm Adafruit Industries. But despite that variety of experience, there is a through-line to my professional life: my passion for complex, interlaced systems and serving effectively the people who live within them. It's the root of my fascination with the global supply chain. In its fundamental messiness, its reliance on local freight forwarders, suppliers, and coordinators, it's an expression of the inextricable humanness of the global economy. I'm looking for a position where I can manage, amplify, and streamline those systems such that they serve all stakeholders as best they can - from consumers, to firms, to the earth itself.I found my way to the supply chain through Adafruit - first as a warehouse worker in Receiving, then as a warehouse manager, all the way to my position as an Operations Associate with a focus on logistics analysis. But even via my time working in theatre and entertainment, I was still managing complex systems created to serve the unique needs of individuals. A play, a musical, a short film -- all these products are at the intersection of a variety of extremely bespoke processes. Directing, producing, and curating those projects, as I've done since 2013, is an exercise in arranging artists (and their processes) in the most efficient and liberating way possible. And this is, fundamentally, the same challenge as exists in logistics. How do we make it easy for everyone to do their job and to get what they need? I'm excited to find some brand-new, supply-chain based answers to those questions.
