I am inspired to help manufacturing operations perform so well in the US that it makes no sense to move them offshore. Even better to set the example for re-shoring. Anything I can do to help that cause is very motivating, and operational improvement is a great start - often enough.I see great opportunity in three different areas of focus: First, Lean management has not recieved enough investment and should be the next wave of significant improvement - combining the visual workplace, leader standard work, metrics alignment, and capability development. Better networking models and technology create breakthrough opportunities.Second, supply chains continue to change roles and develop rapidly - often as the core of competitiveness; networking and continuous redeployment will become more valuable.Third, US industries that are ripe for transformation: case in point is big brand apparel and retail. They will transform to take advantage of technologies that integrate and empower consumers, but will be led by independents that will figure out how to leverage US based capability.Also hospitals, clinics, and other health care outlets will provide patients better outcomes more productively. The industry is full of smart, caring people that seem up for transformation and continuous improvement.
