Student Sports TherapistFylde Rugby Club Sep 2014 - Apr 2015I have been giving the responsibility to assess players and help develop a clinical impression of the injury. I have settled in to the medical team quickly and am developing as a sports therapist week by week. Over the last five months at the placement I have treated a range of injuries from a ruptured anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), a varied range of hamstring strains and even whiplash injuries. My communication and manual handling techniques have improved even more since the beginning of the placement amongst other things. The therapists at the club have faith in my ability as a student sports therapist hence they have let me carry out lumbar rotations and create rehabilitation programs for some of the players.

Head First AiderUclan Sports Arena Sep 2014 - Apr 2015Myself and two other student sports therapists manage a team of 15-20 first aiders. The roles and responsibilities of the Head First Aider are to ensure that the team First Aiders have the right equipment, they are up to date with first aid protocols and also to help them learn and develop as a First Aider and Sports Therapist. The first aid is for university sports teams, the complex that we are based at consists of five football pitches, three rugby pitches and two hockey pitches. This means we can be accountable for twenty teams at one time. I have also done first aiding at the UCLan sports arena. I have managed incidents from spinal injuries to dislocated shoulders. This means I can be calm in stressful situations and take command of the team and organise what needs to be done.

Sports Massage VolunteerWigan Warriors May 2013 - Oct 2014Wigan, United KingdomThis placement has given me the opportunity to develop myself further as a sports therapist and a sports masseur by giving me the chance to massage for their club. During the experience I got to massage the first team players which was a really honour and a privilege. Secondly I got to see how a high level club conditioned and managed their players after a game. The players made me feel welcome at the club and I enjoyed every second. One of the most important thing about this placement was the invaluable knowledge I gain when speaking to the physiotherapists and the other medical staff on how they manage a team at this level. I have a reference from the head physiotherapist
