I am Head of Department for Social Science, responsible for sociology, psychology, criminology, health and social care and children’s play, learning and development across key stage 4 and 5. Social Science should be the back bone of any school and particularly 6th form and I strive to ensure our learners become successful and engaged academics and citizens. I try to lead by example with enthusiasm, excitement for new ideas and a drive to inspire both staff and student. I have, over the years, taught a wide variety levels of education from level 1 to level 6. I am at heart a psychologist, and passion for the psychology of education, specifically areas of metacognition and collaborative learning. I have experience in action and academic research, leading a number of projects on revision skills and student engagement. I have developed programs to enhance student revision strategies, boys engagement in education, teaching and learning strategies on the impact of technology within the classroom. I have worked in many roles within education, including cover supervisor, unqualified teacher and lead for revision strategies and pedagogy for teachers CPD at various schools.
