• Working in a start-up QC laboratory. • Set up of laboratory equipment calibration register and schedule. • Maintenance of full equipment register including the scheduling of equipment calibrations both on-site and off-site, packaging equipment for shipping, scheduling engineers and reviewing calibration certificates.• Drafting and reviewing SOPs.• Microbiology activities such as environmental monitoring and water sampling.

• Performing daily and monthly calibrations of laboratory equipment. • Good housekeeping including general maintenance of laboratory equipment.• Responsible for the disposal of laboratory waste• Preparation of buffers and standards.• Ordering of all chemicals and consumables required for testing performed.

- Cleanliness and upkeep of laboratories.- Processing of samples from hospitals around the country, this involved organising the samples by affected area and tests needed.- Swab sample set up: Streak platting out the samples and setting up for incubation.- Stool sample set up: Carry out tests according to the test kit procedure. Tests included Clostridium difficile toxin, Norovirus, Helicobacter pylori antigen and Faecal Occult Blood (FOB).- Fungal sample set up: Samples set up for growth on 2 types of growth medium and a microscopic investigation. - Quality Control: Daily, weekly and monthly quality controls carried out according to the various SOPs. Reagent, bacterial strain, equipment and environment all included in QC.
