- Took the role of Senior Digital Experience Officer at Southampton City Council, with a focus on improving the online services for adults, children's and special educational needs services in Southampton.- Part of this work has been to migrate, clean up and re-organise information and advice content in order to bring it into one more seamless online channel- We are now nearing completion of work to build a new services database that will improve the user experience for residents and providers, as well as improving internal processes and providing Southampton with an exceptional resource for identifying appropriate services. The new database will also meet OpenReferralUK data standards.- Delivered various pieces of work on improving navigation across digital channels, including the delivery of a cost of living hub and an adult social care assessment tool on the Southampton City Council website

- Took the role of digital analyst, optimising digital channels using a range of customer insight tools and a test/learn approach- Used Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console, Optimize; Hotjar and Yoast SEO to make significant user experience improvements to the Portsmouth City Council website and other council-run sites (including the job recruitment website)- Remapped the Portsmouth City Council website to ensure every page had a tied-up user journey- Engaged with various council departments to help them re-organise their content- Led and carried out customer focus-groups using screen-recording software to gather insight and information ahead of rebuilding the PCC website. This included working with users who had accessibility needs- Worked as an instrumental and reactive part of digital communications during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic- Played a significant role in the website replacement project, including managing staff who migrated content. This project resulted in the council providing fully-accessible website built on Wordpress- In my time as analyst, user experience improvements have contributed towards a 42% increase in monthly online revenue and a 14% increase in overall transactions through digital channels

I was seconded into a role with the council's Digital Customer Experience Team, and was quickly made a permanent member of the team. This role involved updating content on the Portsmouth City Council website, as well as engaging with residents via the council's social media channels. This role also encouraged a collaborative approach to improving the team's overall understanding of providing a quality user experience on the website - consequently, I authored guidelines on written standards and structure for the council website. This meant an increased level of responsibility within the role itself, as I was now working closely with stakeholders and challenging their requested changes where appropriate in order to guard the consistent user experience effectively.This role also involved small amounts of work with HTML, within a bespoke CMS. Further time was spent providing ad hoc support to the wider Communications team, and during local elections.

Working for Portsmouth City Council's Adult Social Care team gave me valuable experience in dealing with large amounts of administrative work, taking difficult calls from the public and working with others in a team to deliver the best and most efficient service possible. Acting as a first point of contact for vulnerable residents was the most critical part of the role. I also assisted with an intervention project, which looked to achieve a complete overhaul in the way services were delivered in Portsmouth.

I was offered a six-month secondment to lead a team of admin staff for Adult Social Care within QA Hospital. Key elements of this role included providing upper management with feedback from the administrative team while a major integration project was taking place. It also involved providing management with recommendations for process improvements based on a systems-thinking approach. During this time, I line-managed two members of staff, and was informal lead of the integrated discharge service hub in which four local authority teams had been merged together. Supporting the management of a full office move was another critical part of this role.

Orange County, California Area

I was offered the opportunity to spend an extra month in the United States to run football coaching sessions in California. This involved working with a variety of teams in the area to run sessions and advise their regular coaches of how to address areas of improvement within their teams. Each day would involve working with between 1-3 different teams, providing a session based on what their regular coach had identified as a weakness within their team. I also run sessions for young children at the weekend and attended games to offer advice and feedback to coaches.

Greater Philadelphia Area

I took unpaid leave from my role with Portsmouth City Council to work as a camp coordinator with the US Sports Institute. This involved running weekday camps for up to 30 children at a time. Our responsibilities included setting up and running a variety of sport sessions and games, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all attendees, and communicating effectively with parents and the company where there were any issues. I worked on multi-sports camps, football camps and golf lessons.

My NQT year was spent teaching a Year 4 class of 25 pupils full-time. The year of teaching coincided with an OFSTED inspection and the implementation of the new curriculum. Supporting the school through these challenges was coupled with usual day-to-day teaching tasks - planning, marking, delivering engaging lessons and formative and summative assessment. I passed my NQT year to achieve Qualified Teacher Status.
