Charge Injection System Expert
CurrentStudent Staff Member
CurrentProvide technical support for creative projects relying on digital design and fabrication tools, such as 3D printers, digital modeling, laser cutting, and virtual reality technology.
Research Assistant
CurrentThe Zhong Lab specializes in quantum network research with the goal of actualizing a quantum internet that could enable the unconditionally secure exchange of information on a global scale. The quantum internet is a communications network whereby information is transferred between a series of repeater nodes composed of quantum memories interfaced with optical signals. As a research assistant, I worked on several projects directly contributing to the realization of such a quantum node. For instance, I independently designed, constructed, and characterized a system for fabricating optical nanofibers with sub-micron diameters. I also helped to design an optical cavity to be used for high resolution spectroscopy of erbium-doped yttrium orthosilicate (Er:YSO), a material which has shown promise as an effective and scalable quantum memory in future quantum networks.
Student Staff Member
Oversaw the Hack Arts Lab maker-space, provided technical support, and maintained high end digital fabrication tools before the lab was integrated into the Media Arts, Data, and Design Center in Crerar Library.
Student Staff Member
Maintained a wide range of high-end audio and video production equipment, facilitated rental process for university affiliated users, and provided technical support for rental equipment.
Vigre Course Assistant, Math 153
Functioned as an undergraduate teaching assistant responsible for grading students' homework assignments, writing homework solutions, hosting weekly office hours, and meeting with students individually when needed.
Research Assistant
Aided in the design and construction of recurrent neural networks for the purpose of modeling neural pathways within the visual cortex of lab monkeys stimulated during experimental trials.
Research Staff
Gathered and analyzed data on the spectral properties of genetically engineered plants exhibiting a Green Fluorescent Protein transgene, and used this to develop a practical imaging system for field use.
Research Assistant
Helped develop a dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) system by which protein crystals were polarized in a magnetic field at cryogenic temperatures in an effort to suppress background noise in neutron protein crystallography. My primary responsibility consisted of the implementation a device that could measure the polarization of crystalline samples within this DNP system.
