Jake Greenbaum's journey in tech and engineering is a testament to his passion, resilience, and commitment to growth. Born and raised in Southern California, Jake graduated from Dana Hills High School, where he was already making strides as a leader and innovator. Serving as the Vice President of the student body, he also founded the Dana Point Mountain Bike Team, a testament to his initiative and love for outdoor adventure. As the world adjusted to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jake turned the challenge into an opportunity. While attending his first year of college online, he pursued a lifelong passion for aviation, earning his private pilot's license. His dedication to exploring new horizons continued through his college years at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he pursued a B.S. in Computer Engineering. With a stellar GPA of 3.92, Jake graduated with Honors, specializing in Distributed Systems and Machine Learning. He also demonstrated his leadership potential as Vice President of Tau Beta Pi, the prestigious Engineering Honor Society, and as an active member of UCSB's College of Engineering Honors Program.Jake's commitment to service is equally remarkable. As a math instructor for UCSB's Campus Learning Assistance Services, he led group discussions and drop-in hours, guiding students through complex mathematical concepts and empowering them to excel. His volunteer work with PilotsNPaws allowed him to combine his love for aviation with community service, while his involvement with SciTrek fostered young students' interest in STEM.Academically and professionally, Jake has continuously challenged himself. He sharpened his skills in various programming languages, including TypeScript and Java, during his time as a Software Engineer intern at Major League Baseball. Now, in his full-time role as a Software Engineer on the On and Near-Field Systems Team at MLB, Jake develops applications that directly impact the game, a perfect convergence of his technical expertise and his love for sports. Driven by a commitment to excellence, he continuously pushes the boundaries of his work to bring innovative solutions and a positive impact to the MLB team.Outside of his professional life, Jake enjoys staying active and is an avid participant in outdoor activities. Now based in Boulder, Colorado, he spends his free time hiking, skiing, climbing, and biking, always seeking new challenges in both his career and personal life.
