Hi, I'm Jake! I am the Software Engineering Lead at StrutFit. We help online shoe retailers increase sales and decrease returns with our shoe sizing solution that uses image recognition and machine learning. I work across our front-end and back-end code, while also managing interns and graduate developers. My passion is teaching and mentoring, and I love making sure my colleagues are having the best experience possible. Previously, I had been a Full-Stack Software Developer at Vista Entertainment Solutions for over two years and have also worked as a Business Analyst at Vista for almost a year. I worked across two teams, as Scrum Master and Developer in the Film Team, and as Business Analyst in the MovieXchange Team. In the Film Team I worked on developing web applications that help cinemas manage films and schedule sessions. In the MovieXchange Team I analyzed and broke down customer requirements, managing feature development on a product that stores accurate film information on the cloud that Exhibitors and Distributors use. I have front-end and back-end technical knowledge and expertise, as well as product knowledge, analysis and communication skills that I have to use daily. I have spent a lot of time working with React, the .NET Framework, and SQL. My soft skills include time management, teamwork, and leadership. I'm a sociable guy who has a strong work ethic and a dedication to getting things done. I have a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours, specialising in Software Engineering. I was on the Dean's Honours List three times, and I directed the 2017 Engineering Revue, a theatre production involving close to 100 Engineering students. I love reading, watching movies, playing board games and video games, and hanging out with friends.
