I spent 3 months learning about the core fundamentals of value investing and the basic steps of company evaluations. During this process, I specifically researched the healthcare sector and individual equities within this sector. I chose Amgen Inc. as the company in which I wanted to further investigate, research, and ultimately pitch to the fund managers, Vice-President, and President. This presentation included a full report (which I will attach) and a 5-8 minute PowerPoint presentation. After my presentation, I was accepted into the fund as an analyst! My report ranked within the top 6 out of all of those who presented. Although my report is not 100% perfect, I truly believe this experience taught me the fundamentals of value investing, how to evaluate a company, and the importance of time management. My public speaking also improved! I cannot thank my intern mentor for the help he provided.

During my time at Consolidated Financial, I was presented with the opportunity to help clients and grow my understanding about the industry. I utilized MoneyGuidePro to create What-If worksheets, advisor reports, and also updated current client profiles. In addition to this, I assessed over 50 401(k) Adoption Agreements to identify appropriate vesting schedules, updated withdraw requirements, and updated possible plan distributions. Towards the end of internship, I utilized the Morningstar database to successfully complete a final project that compared net expenses for each client. The data was gathered and formatted into an Excel presentation.

During my time at Frazier Financial, I gained experience by joining my mentors in high-profile client meetings. These meetings offered valuable insights into private wealth management and taught lessons of proper professionalism in the workplace. In addition to this, I expanded my knowledge about the history of the stock market, the process of buying and selling mutual funds, the uniqueness of retirement, the process of real estate purchases, the importance of bonds, and the process of tax audits. In addition to this, I strengthened my interpersonal skills. This may have been the most valuable takeaway! I sharpened my public speaking techniques, sharpened my listening techniques, and strengthened my selling skills. My time at Frazier reinforced the idea that clients are not merely “customers we want to make money off of,” but rather that they are genuine people. I believe our job is to serve our clients in a way that is both trusting and loving.

I joined a great team that shared the initiative to distribute food to families in need and also played with the children of such families.
