My career and volunteering experience to date reflect a desire to improve the lives and experiences of others. This provides the greatest sense of joy and pride in my life, not just my employment. For the last 8 years, teaching has been a great source of this.Obviously, the effort to help students improve across the curriculum as a Primary Teacher has brought me a lot of joy, but I have also worked to improve the work and experience of colleagues. Particularly in the last few years, assisting other adults with learning new skills and managing their work has brought a lot of satisfaction. Ultimately, I am a "bigger-picture thinker", and assisting peers to improve essentially improves the experience of 1000s of children now and into the future. With this in mind, I am looking to move out of the classroom and into an adult environment, preferably using the skills that I have fine-tuned as a teacher and a leader in the schools I have worked at.My experience as a teacher extends beyond working with children. I have been a curriculum leader for different committees, developing plans and analysing data with the purpose of identifying teaching focus areas and improving data literacy of colleagues. I have been involved in the planning and implementation of change at a systematic level in both schools that I worked at. At Alkimos Beach Primary School, I worked with the executive team to implement change management strategies to promote teacher confidence and competency in teaching and assessing what was the new Digital Technologies curriculum. At Mullaloo Heights Primary School, I lead multiple teams with different purposes, under a new distributed leadership model. Distributed leadership within the school was a new approach to classroom and school-wide planning for much of the staff at the school. My approach to teamwork and leadership has assisted colleagues to embrace a change that improved their approach to work.
