Hello, my name is Jake. I am a newly graduated Highschool student with my own transportation, a clean driving/criminal record, and over 6 years of on-site experience mainly focused on carpentry. From age 11 to 18, I worked 40+ hour weeks during my summer breaks in the family business, shadowing professional carpenters. The last two years with this company, I worked year round full time. I began this job as a helper, but over the years I had developed enough skills to be classified as a professional cabinet refacing and installation specialist. Towards the end of my time with this company, some of my responsibilities were as follows. Precise measuring within 1/16th of an inch. Cabinet leveling, scribing, and securing to wall studs. Door hinging, hanging, and adjusting. Measuring and drilling for handles and knobs. Face sanding, laminate fitting, and full cabinet refacing using contact cement. Toekick, trim, and crown installation. Minor cabinet and laminate repairs. Controlled demolition, and drywalling. Minor electrical work such as swapping light switches, outlets, or lighting fixtures. Minor plumbing work such as garbage disposal removal and installation, pipe re-routing inside of a cabinet, and sink hookups. I am an expert with routers, sanders, impacts/drills, and more than proficient with most other job-site power/hand tools. Throughout my schooling, I often was able to absorb information with little to no effort. This resulted in perfect testing scores for all 12 years of my education, allowing me to graduate with a B+ average, without turning in any homework(-10% of my grade)I am a quick learner and can pick up just about anything with enough time or guidance. Some of my hobbies include woodworking, bodybuilding, balisong flipping, coding, CAD design, game development, and more. While these are not impressive by themself, there are many soft skills that I've obtained from each pass-time that can be utilized in my career.Thank you for reading this far!
