Experian is a global financial services organisation with a large presence in credit services among many other areas. Working in a team, my primary role is managing an large Enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) comprising of the following technologies:• Brocade DCX and Director Fibre Channel Switches• Brocade storage routers• Brocade IP Gateways (MPX series)• McData SAN Switches• Many other brocade series switches and SAN devices.I manage a large number of storage arrays from several suppliers totalling several PetaBytes of storage:• IBM DS4000 series• IBM DS8000 series• EMC CLARiiON• EMC VNX• Hitachi (HDS) AMS series• Hitachi VSP• HP p2000/p4000I work very closely with the VMware team utilising my VMware skills to advise on all areas of VMware but focusing on storage and backups.I have recently designed a brand new Storage solution to cater for business need and a recent acquisition in Japan.I support equipment in 40 countries and regularly find myself communicating with people via email and teleconferencing throughout these utilising my excellent communication skills.I work to support a large open systems environment comprising of all versions of Microsoft Windows and several distributions of Linux and UNIX. My recent past skills working in server management for Derbyshire County Council have proven invaluable in this area.I support a large enterprise backup solution using Symantec NetBackup & PureDisk to protect the 3000+ servers in the environment.I help to support a multitude of Tape Libraries and Virtual Tape solutions.I have loosely worked to support a large IBM mainframe environment at Experian.I look after multiple replication technologies and inter-site WAN links to help with business continuity for the organisation.

My primary role is managing the Storage Area Network (SAN) and HP EVA Storage Array and other storage technologies. I have become highly proficient in storage monitoring and performance tuning.I manage DCCs VMware implementation and have managed upgrades and installations (including scripted deployments) from VMware ESX 3 to 3.5 to 4 and currently 4.1.I manage the offsite data replication and VMware Site Recovery Manager Installations including regular testing of recovery plans.I currently manage all of the ordering of equipment and software for the Server & Storage team totalling many hundreds of thousands of pounds.I am well trained to work with the full range of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and features. To name some: Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, DFS-R, PKI, Group Policy, IIS, ISA.I am responsible for the Server & Storage Backup infrastructure to ensure that all systems are backed up properly and regularly test and develop disaster recovery procedures. I participate in a callout rota to resolve issues with the backup environment if any occur out-of-hours.I monitor the physical data centre equipment through various management tools including HP Insight Manager, Microsoft SCOM and some custom scripts and utilities.DCC have recently implemented Microsoft SCCM and I have been somewhat involved with the configuration and supporting the business in deploying desktop machines and distribution points.I develop scripts in KIX, VB Script & Powershell and applications in HTA to streamline repetitive tasks and reduce human error.I support the IT Service Desk with any tough support requests from staff members or members of the public.I work with the DCC Database Team to support the councils installations of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle & VLDB.

Initially my role was ‘IT Technician’ and primarily I looked after the IT Helpdesk. This involved answering the phone and visiting staff and computer systems to resolve issues and perform upgrades.I developed advanced system ‘images’ using Symantec Ghost and later Microsoft Remote Installation Services (RIS) and later WDS to easily deploy computer systems throughout the business.My role progressed to ‘Network Administrator’ where I was responsible for 36 Windows servers and the full range of business applications. To name some: Domain Services (AD), Web Services (IIS), CITRIX, Microsoft Exchange Server, CISCO PIX Firewalls and CISCO Switches & Routers, Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec Anti-Virus, Mailsweeper, Sophos Anti-Virus.I left Connexions Derbyshire to further my career at Derbyshire County Council.
