I worked under Dr. Meghan Norris at Queen's University as a TA. In this role I was responsible for teaching two first-year psychology tutorials (PSYC100). In this role I needed to practice and teach a lesson plan, actively engage with students in discussions about course content, hold students accountable for attendance and participation, and grading assignments. It was my responsibility to show leadership when teaching each lab, effectively communicate and explain course concepts and collaborate with students in the class to achieve learning goals.

In this role I worked under Dr. Michele Morningstar in the Development of Social and Emotional Communication Lab (DSEC). In this role I was responsible for data collection and entry, and I was the lead research assistant (RA) for data preprocessing/cleaning which entailed training and managing other RAs on this task. I was also responsible for developing Python code and VBA code in excel to streamline the development of set lists for the study that was being developed. I also engaged in participant recruitment through an internal database which entailed calling and emailing participants. As this was a developmental lab, very attentive care was needed working with children and their caregivers during data collection.

In this position I worked under Dr. Elizabeth Kelley in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Studies Lab. In this role I was responsible for data collection, engaging with autistic youth and their caregivers. I was trained to administer the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence (2nd Edition; WASI-II) as this was used in the data collection process. This role was partially virtual as I met with participants on Zoom to administer the WASI-II as a part of our data collection. As well, I engaged in academic journal club meetings where clinical research was critically analyzed and discussed by our lab team. Further, I engaged in participant recruitment contacting both caregivers and establishing connections with organizations that could get us in contact with participants.

The Queen's Psychology Department Student Council partnered with Parachute Canada for a program called Brainwaves to educate children about the brain and concussions. As lead volunteer I formulated 10 teams for educational workshops, connect teams with 10+ elementary Schools, coordinated meeting times between teams and schools, acquired & distributed 100+ workshop materials/resources (information booklets, brain models).
