Everyone wants to be a thought leader. But are they willing to do what's needed to become one?I improve thought leadership by evaluating it from a journalistic perspective. As a fractional editor-in-chief, I collaborate with executives and communications/PR teams to find the best ideas. We then determine how to distribute them to relevant audiences in a variety of media, from op-eds to media pitches to LinkedIn to messaging for conferences and interviews.I'm not PR and I'm not a ghostwriter. My goal is to help executives attain a level of thought leadership that commands respect and authority in their field.I accomplish this using a number of tactics, including:- Socratic interviews and brainstorms with executives- Guiding executives and communications teams on best practices for meaningful thought leadership - Reviewing/editing pitches and drafts- Auditing existing writing and giving advice for improvement

I generated op-ed ideas for subject matter experts, edited their articles and placed them in major media outlets, including CNBC, MarketWatch, Fortune, Inc., Entrepreneur, Teen Vogue, Kiplinger and Chief Executive. I worked with leaders in tech, finance, consulting, healthcare, crypto, supply chains, ESG and education.

I commissioned, edited, fact-checked and published contributed op-eds on business, international, political and cultural topics.

I directed media outreach for Foreign Affairs magazine, published by the Council on Foreign Relations. In this capacity, I was responsible for pitching op-eds by Foreign Affairs writers on various global topics to major publications, as well as producing press releases, email newsletters, media guides and media conference calls.

I enhanced Council experts' public profile by writing press releases, media guides, and media advisories; organizing media conference calls; and managing on-the-record events. I also built relationships with editors and producers to direct them to relevant content.

I wrote opinion and analysis pieces for MSNBC, World Politics Review, The Forward and The Times of India.

I covered the Egyptian revolution and political transition for English edition of Egypt’s leading independent newspaper, and wrote freelance pieces for World Politics Review, The Times of India and +972 Magazine. I was also featured as an Egypt expert in interviews with BBC Radio and We Act Radio.As a desk editor, I aggregated and wrote trending stories using field dispatches, world wires and Arabic translations. I also copy edited, proofread and fact-checked articles, and researched story topics to add context. I was responsible for publishing 15-20 stories a day and managing our front page using a content management system.

I wrote an undergraduate senior thesis tracing the rise of Religious Zionism through Israeli history. For this paper, I conducted fellowship-supported interviews in Israel with rabbis, soldiers, academics and journalists; and analyzed historical Zionist writings.

I researched and edited articles for two senior fellows, focusing on the Iranian and Arab nuclear programs, Iran-Arab relations, and democratic reform in the Middle East. I also edited and fact-checked chapters of the revised book, Iran: The Looming Crisis.
