• Reporting to the Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety, ESAB NA. • Responsible for environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene (IH), risk management, and significant plant engineering projects. Manage NA compliance with: SARA 311, 312 and 313; RCRA; CERCLA; NPDES; SWPPP; SPCC; EPA (air/water/waste); ergonomics; and OSHA. • Develop, promote, and execute the concepts of the EHSMS (ISO14001/OHSAS18001) throughout the North America Consumables Group.• Lead the development and execution of individual site EHS Plans. • Define and manage key EHS related projects, such as machine guarding assessment projects, the execution of environmental compliance efforts, building demolition, etc.• Manage various site resources in order to achieve the goals of annual EHS Plans.• Assist local management teams with incident reporting, root cause analysis, and the management of corrective actions.• Contribute to the development of location EHS staff members, manage Individual Development Plans (IDPs), and conduct performance reviews in a constructive manner.

• During a 12 month period, managed a 24% reduction in the Ashtabula site’s incident rate (TRIR) by reorganizing the EHS resources and activities in order to meet safety objectives.• Researched, created, and implemented a “People Based Safety” (PBS) process at both facilities with an emphasis placed on behaviors rather than conditions. As a result, participation increased from an average of 57% to a sustained average of 95% and above. Utilized the lessons learned and best practices gleaned through this effort to contribute to the ESAB North America PBS program. • Led an engineering project team at the Ashtabula site in order to prioritize and complete key safety related projects e.g. guarding, building repairs, ACM remediation, hoist & crane repairs, etc. Efforts resulted in working off a significant backlog of projects and achieving a completion/on time rate of 90% for planned projects/activities.• Assumed the role as Project Manager for the CWCL Demolition & Generator’s Closure project from concept thru completion, including all contractor/vendor negotiations and internal written approvals. Provided day-to-day management for the various contractors involved in order to meet the project’s deliverables; project completed below budget and within the original scope as outlined in the capex request ($212k approved, $196k actual). . • Successfully managed the execution of a risk assessment program and the development/distribution of Job Safety Analysis’ (JSA) for each job title/both sites. JSAs include mandatory safety related expectations for employees, physical capability requirements conducted by a third party, training requirements, and an outline of job steps/associated risks used as a training tool for operators.

• Managed a 62% reduction in the Hanover site’s incident rate (OSHA TRIR). • Implemented the OHSAS 18001 Management System, which included writing the site specific procedures, as well as, coordinating their implementation.• Designed and implemented all of the site’s safety programs/procedures: IH monitoring, respiratory safety (respirator use and fit tests), LOTO, powered industrial truck training program (fork-lifts, aerial booms, pallet jacks), emergency response & first aid, haz-waste management, process waste water pre-treatment practices/procedures, management of change (production floor processes/equipment), chemical management, etc. • Managed and/or completed all agency required reporting: Tier II, Haz-Waste, 26Rs, etc.• Managed various energy conservation initiatives/projects that resulted in significant cost savings: 62% reduction in water consumption per pound of product produced, 5% reduction in electricity usage, 23% reduction in waste to landfill. • During the calendar year of 2008, coordinated or personally managed $1.5M worth of EHS related improvement projects: LOTO retro-fits, numerous machine guarding projects, ergonomic improvement projects, process water treatment improvements/upgrades, etc.
