Promoted to Plant Metallurgist of the Lead Refinery and Precious Metals section in Port Pirie. Moved into 8-6 shift role of Plant Metallurgist for the Primary Smelter (TSL) and Acid plant in Jan 2020. Secondment working as technical lead and project champion for high a priority project associated with the TSL furnace (coal grinding and injection) September 2020 until August 2021. Remainder of term spent helping drive development in TSL and Acid Plant. Actively working in Leadership development and Lean Facilitation on site.

Included daily monitoring and optimisation of refinery operations. I gained valuable experience in operations, small and capital scale improvement projects.

Working full time for 4 weeks, I completed a number of engineering tasks to aid in the major upgrade project taking place.These included:- Isometric pipework drawings- Pipeline pressure drop analysis- Development of pumping data sheets- Development of a procedure for settling tests aiming to optimise flocculant usage - Daily monitoring of a section of the process, including pressure and temperature readings

Volunteered to complete research into a new Risk Assessment technique under the Friday the Thirteenth Methodology (Fr 13) being researched by Dr K R Davey (Senior Lecturer, University of Adelaide).Tasks completed included analysing multiple systems of unit operations using the Microsoft Excel add-on, @Risk (Palisade Corporation), in order to model changes in the risk associated with the system under analysis. My project focused on development of new graphical techniques to present results, previously developed by other Post-Graduate researchers working on the Friday the 13th failure methodology.I also help by testing new theories being developed by Dr Davey, including tasks such as debugging mathematical formulae used in models, analysis of model outputs in order to create multiple graphical representations of the results and presenting my results using Microsoft Excel. Drafting of reports on the research was also undertaken. This included individual preparation of progress reports, submitted before scheduled meetings in order to have a record of the work completed and collaboratively working on the scheme in order to help with the development of the next paper being presented.
