I got my early career start in Aircraft Maintainance Engineering, and it was while working through the electrical aspects of the training of that I realised my interests lay elsewhere and I changed my direction to focus on an electrical qualification. While juggling full-time Electrotechnology studies and a full-time job, I got my break as a Trades Assistant during a power station shutdown where, keen to learn, and as a result of my overall work ethic, enthusiasm and reliability, I was offered an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) apprenticeship 1 month into the job.Since becoming qualified in 2015 as an E&I Technician, I still love what I do, and I’m not afraid of hard work. Colleagues commend me for the way I take a bird's eye view of complex problems, and how I think through things, and systematically and methodically get to the root cause of a problem.I now am privileged to be in a leadership role where I can give back to my trade and impart my knowledge and experience onto those looking to further improve their skills in the instrumentation field. Leading by example and setting the standard of quality I expect from my team is one of my core values.
