As one of the Directors at Strongroom I am responsible for the smooth running of the business, with focus on our commercial recording studios and long-let occupancy spaces (production room studios and office spaces). I oversee the businesses marketing and brand direction, the bookings team and budgeting as well the technical offering of our facilities line managing the Technical and Maintenance departments along with our team of Sound Engineers, Assistants and Runners.

I assumed the position of Studio Manager during the Covid-19 pandemic, shutting and reopening the business while observing government guidance for the sector. I was in charge of drawing up new budgets, managing HR situations, overseeing the technical offering of the studios and support of our team as we adapted to the changing climate and steered Strongroom through turbulent times! We did it! I continue to manage the studios at present under my duties as Director.

In my double-barrel duties as Technical Manager& Assistant Studio Manager at Strongroom I had two over-arching duties:1. Bring the commercial recording studios up to a new standard, managing a technical budget and small team to address issues as they arose and push standards and competitiveness through acquisition of equipment and building relationships with manufactures, developers etc2. Assisting the Studio Manager in achieving their goals and tasks, support in budget and HR, training Assistant Engineer & Runners, prepping studios and the team for bookings and events, management of social media and maintaining a sense of community in the complex

Working on studio/staff/client support, wiring and installations in the commercial recording studios on an as-needed basis when the Technical Department required additional hands or during periods of annual leave. This required in-depth knowledge of recording studios and their systems, electronics knowledge and the ability to solder, troubleshooting and IT/network support.

For several years I was a music critic, writing for the website Echoes And Dust. As part of the team I covered records, gigs and interviewed artists for publication on the website.

I've worked very closely with Arthur Young at Shaken Oak for several years, both as a sound engineer and technician, driving the facility into its current second phase of design. I designed and installed a new studio wiring scheme, installed and serviced equipment and regularly assist Arthur in anything from recordings to mix prep, mixing or mastering he may need, in what has become a deeply rewarding professional friendship.

This role involved supporting Hookline manage their music catalogue, including rights registrations and technical format audits so as to support pitches in securing briefs. The role largely worked out of file databases and spreadsheets, working over calls and emails to ensure consistency and quality across digital assets.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work on a number of studio builds for Miloco, including The Red Room, The Church, a new production room for Howie B at Assault & Battery in Willesden, and an Audible audio-book voiceover facility in Barbican. I have a great passion for studio builds and what makes a creative environment inspiring, unique and technically advanced. I learned a huge amount working with the Miloco team who are top of the game for studio design and installation.

As a member of the Student Support team at SAE London I was involved hands on work with a large amount of high-end professional music and post-production studios across two buildings, including the installation of their 24/7 Bankstock studio complex of eight studios over two floors running. With students being the primary "clients", in-depth varied knowledge was regularly demanded to support them in their learning and assignments, teaching them both technical and creative techniques of music production & engineering, as well as the ability to deal with a variety of administrative roles and hosting outside events.

General assistance to sessions, setting up rehearsal rooms, tidying studios and running sessions solo recording clients to their specifications and needs. Initially I worked at the studio weekly for 4 months as an assistant and then as a freelancer on call.
