I've always been interested in and working on computers in one way or another, but my first career in the field was with Geek Squad. During that time, I gained a lot of confidence with interacting with people one on one to assist them with their computer issues. I also gained a lot of foundational PC repair knowledge while working at Geek Squad. I moved on to working at an MSP, IT Direct, where I got a ton of experience with enterprise IT. We had clients in what seemed like every vertical; law, medical, manufacturing, you name it. This helped expose me to a wide array of different hardware and software (as well as the issues that come with them). Due to my knowledge and ability to figure things out on the fly, I was promoted through the help desk ranks and made my way up to Systems Administrator. I enjoyed that role, but I've always had a fascination with cybersecurity and standards, so I quickly signed on as the second tech in our new Compliance Department. In my role as a Compliance Analyst, I perform physical security audits as well as virtual audits of our client's infrastructure. I typically work to align clients to established frameworks (NIST, HIPAA, CMMC). I also assist in tracking and addressing vulnerabilities and performing forensics and root cause analysis during incident response events.
