Projects:ReFreshReFresh is a community economic development project with a dual purpose of anchoring revitalization along the Broad Street commercial corridor in New Orleans and improving community health by delivering high-quality affordable foods and related programming. ReFresh, an adaptive reuse project financed by New Markets Tax Credits, is converting a 60,000 square foot former grocery store into a new Whole Foods Market; along with Liberty’s Kitchen, a full service café and commercial kitchen that works with at-risk youth; and the Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane University, a first-of-its-kind teaching kitchen. The development will also include office space for FirstLine Schools, Boys Town, Crescent City Community Land Trust, and Broad Community Connections, and have indoor and outdoor community space, and a community farm. Whole Foods opened for business on February 4, 2014, and all other tenants are anticipated to be operational by May 2014. Faubourg LafitteFaubourg Lafitte is a new mixed income community in New Orleans on the site where the Lafitte public housing development once stood. The first two phases were completed in 2011consisting of approximately $77 million in total development costs and including the construction of 276 public housing and low income units in a mix of single family homes, duplexes, and 6-plex buildings. There are an additional 241 units to be built on-site including a mix of senior rental housing, market rate rental housing, and homeownership, with the 89 market rate rental units currently under construction. Faubourg Lafitte was the winner of the 2012 Multifamily Executive Award in the Low-Rise category and the winner of the Novogradac Developments of Distinction Awards in 2013.
