All require liaising with customer, producing new design concepts to resolve customer issues as well as proving out concepts to get customer buy in and feasibility from tooling, manufacturing and quality. Instructing CAD engineers to carry out modifications and sending out to suppliers. Working with commercial department to make sure all costs have been accounted for before gaining authority for mods to be timed and completed. Reviewing PV test results and FE simulations to come up with solutions to prevent durability, strength, stiffness and squeak & rattle failures without adversely affecting crash requirements. Designing and introducing new complex parts into door systems that require mods to several parts and processes with strict packaging constraints. Tracking all issues and required modifications along with a CAD model history in a LOP to enable quick and accurate communication with the rest of the team of the latest status of the design. Including timing, what mods have been released, are in progresses, are still working concepts and what requires customer protection.
