Coordinate the preventive/corrective maintenance tasks and ongoing maintenance repairs in my area of responsibility. I communicate on a daily basis with the other departments onboard (electrical, electronic, subsea, drilling, marine and safety) in order to plan maintenance in an efficient manner and with a proactive attitude to prevent non-productive time. During the day I regularly communicate with the Chief Engineer to ensure maximum efficiency and preservation of the assets onboard and am also responsible to ensure the accuracy of data for all onboard tracking systems.I also supervise and assist in completing the preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components of the following systems: - Power Plant and related Auxiliary systems including fuel and lube oil systems, components and bunkering operations- Dynamically Positioning Equipment and Auxiliary systems - Ballast and Bilge systems - Remote Operated Valve systems- Compressed Air Systems and equipment including Instrument Air, Service Air and Start Air- Emergency Shutdown systems, Safety systems and Zero Discharge equipment - Lifeboats and Fast Rescue Craft - Living Quarters and related support systems

Responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the rigs diesel propulsion power plant. Monitoring the power plant at all times is crucial for controls, power produced and consumed as well as station keeping ability. Troubleshooting, problem solving and job planning is a critical role in my job responsibility. Working with IFS, the Maintenance Management System, allows me to assist the Engineering Department supervisors in efficiently planning maintenance as well as any additional jobs requiring troubleshooting of the power plant or its associated auxiliary systems. These systems include up to but are not limited from lube oil, fuel oil, cooling systems, refrigeration, HVAC, potable water and drill water. Along with maintenance I am responsible for routine rounds to ensure the proper working condition of all components in the machinery spaces. Maintaining Rowans Core Values is also a vital part of the 3rd Assistant Engineers role.

Working with Seadrills Maintenance Management System allows the Technical Department to efficiently plan preventative maintenance jobs as well as add jobs when required to troubleshoot the corresponding systems to the power plant. These systems include the lube oil, fuel oil, main engine cooling, refrigeration, HVAC, potable water and drill water systems. Along with maintaining the power plant I am responsible for regular rounds of the machinery spaces. House keeping and maintaining Seadrill Safety Standards is another crucial role of an Engine Room Operator.
