I began building websites with HTML in 1997 when I was 12-years-old. Around 2000 my fan-site for one of my favorite bands lead me to become the official webmaster for their website; during this same time I was building websites for small businesses in my area. After serving in the US Air Force I attended the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver, I graduated with an Associates Degree in their Web Design and Interactive Media program in December 2008. While attending the Art Institute I was a Customer Service Representative (CSR), then Shift Manager and eventually Store Sales Manager at a Blockbuster Video Store from January 2006-September 2008. During this time I was able to secure two clients that would eventually lead me to becoming a full-time freelance web designer before I graduated from the Art Institute. From June 2008 until February 2014 I worked with clients from across the US designing custom websites using Joomla!, Wordpress, Drupal and more. My designs and strategies always came from the mindset of the best possible user experience, while making sure the website was built in a search engine friendly manner. In 2011 my entrepreneurial spirit led me back home to North Dakota, where my father was shutting down his one man agricultural fencing company. When I was young I spent many summers out with my dad in the Badlands of North Dakota, sweating and working tirelessly alongside him. The thought of the business I watched him pour his life into just folding into nothing, when he could no longer work, bothered me to the point that I decided to continue his legacy.I took my experience in design and marketing and built an identity for the company and went to work online and on the fence-line. By 2015 my fathers one-man-show had 6 employees, in 2016 we went up to 10. Today we have a largest social media following of any fencing company in North Dakota. I hand-code websites and templates from scratch with extensive knowledge in: HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, Bootstrap and PHP. I try to maintain the best current practices in regards to UI/UX, responsive design, validation of code and semantics. I currently build websites on the side for my own projects as well as for friends/family members to keep my skills up-to-date.
