With over 40 years of financial services experience, Jake is an industry leader in corporate credit, restructuring and recovery. In his current role, he is Non-executive Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd a subsidiary Standard Chartered PLC, encompassing its operations in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Korea. As such he is responsible for leading the governance and oversight of these operations. Prior to that from 2017 - 2018, he was Chairman of the Madison Pacific Trust Group, a premier independent provider of an extensive range of trustee and escrow agency, custodial, directorship and company secretarial services in a wide variety of special situations, such as restructurings, distressed transactions, complex workouts and enforcements throughout Asia Pacific, as well as investing and asset management in distressed, illiquid and other special situations. Prior to that through the of 2016, he was Deputy Group Chief Risk Officer of Standard Chartered Bank. Jake sat on the Board of Directors of the SCB's subsidiaries in China, Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia and was responsible for the approvals and oversight of Standard Chartered’s largest and most complex transactions and counterparty exposures. In addition to being involved in major credit approvals, he headed up risk due diligence and integration for acquisitions and supervised Standard Chartered’s impaired credit portfolio and major troubled exposures. Jake was also previously Group Head of Special Assets Management, the corporate restructuring and workout division, and functioned as the Bank’s “designated trouble shooter“.Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, Jake held a variety of senior management positions at Citicorp/Citibank and Westpac Banking Corporation in various countries. At Westpac, as the General Manager of Corporate Institutional Relationships and Sales and Marketing, Jake led the global management of all product sales and marketing along with the Bank’s relationship and service delivery to over 2000 corporate, government and institutional clients. As the Managing Director of Citicorp Australia Limited, he was responsible for all wholesale banking operations in Australia and New Zealand during a extremely difficult period for the Bank.
