Mr Wright is transitioning into a career in policy and law from nursing. He is passionate about policy and law because of his interactions with people working as a Registered Nurse in mental health. He is undertaking further education in policy and law. He is pursuing his career with vigour. He is professional and recognises the importance of complexity in how one interacts with other people.Mr Wright began working as a Registered Nurse in 2019. He completed a transition to practice program in mental health nursing before working in tertiary hospitals. He was initially part of a research project into the role and scope of practice of mental health nurses which was published in the ‘International Journal of Mental Health Nursing’ by the authors. Mr Wright has also worked in primary care as a nurse for a private aged care provider and in the community.Mr Wright believes in the importance of education in building character. He worked as a private tutor and as an English as a second language teacher in ELICOS centres whilst acquiring his education. He also has a history of volunteering as both a cricket instructor and as a basketball coach. This came from playing high-level competitive sport. He sees sport and education as providing skills to succeed in the workplace.Mr Wright’s professionalism and desire for learning is reflected in his work. He upheld the ‘Code of Conduct’ and the ‘Code of Ethics’ by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). He also upheld the ‘Code of Ethics’ (2008) by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). He understands the importance of ethics in how one situates oneself within larger systems and broader issues. He brings knowledge, experiences and ethics with him to a career in policy and law.
