About Jake Bridges
Jake is currently the Associate Director of Development at American University's School of Communications. Prior to joining AU, Jake was a Development Officer of Individual and Corporate Giving at Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD. Prior to his tenure at Round House, Jake gained valuable experience as a Core Team Member and Development Director for the Working in DC project, an initiative of the Labor Heritage Foundation. This three-week-long festival sought to re-imagine the traditional producing model in regional theatre while focusing on radical hospitality, inclusivity, and equitable compensation for arts workers. In May 2021, he graduated from the M.A. Arts Management program at American University in May 2021 where he maintained a 4.0 GPA and served as a graduate fellow. In his fellowship role, Jake assisted research and development efforts as the administrative coordinator for the Artistic Director Initiative pilot program in collaboration with Arena Stage. This initiative sought to gain a deeper understanding of the artistic director's role in the modern theatrical structure as well as how best to train and support the role moving forward. While a student at American, Jake had several opportunities for professional development including as a project intern at the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland and as a Development intern at Mosaic Theatre Company in DC. Before relocating to the District for graduate school, Jake worked as a New York-based actor for nearly a decade and is currently a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association. Throughout his acting career, Jake performed with NETworks Presentations on the national tours of South Pacific and Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Jake also appeared in numerous regional productions across the country including stops at the Ogunquit Playhouse, North Shore Music Theatre, Theatre By the Sea, Weathervane Theatre, Barnstormers Theatre, and the Westchester Broadway Theatre. With strengths in development, creative writing, and program management, Jake is continuing to develop his skills as an arts leader and advancement professional.
