During my tenure as VP of Engineering at Derivative Path, a leading FinTech company based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I played a pivotal role in steering the organization through a period of significant growth post-Series B funding. I led the engineering team through a three-fold expansion while driving revenue growth by 20% by mentoring ICs to achieve management positions, scaling the organization from two teams to six. My scope of responsibility included overseeing software development, IT, Security, and DevOps.One of my primary initiatives was the implementation of processes and procedures aimed at enhancing the development lifecycle. This included spearheading an Agile transformation and introducing modern tooling for code reviews, security scanning, automated builds, and CI/CD techniques, resulting in a 2X improvement in delivery speed. Code quality was improved from a quality rating of B or C to A in almost all instances. In addition, I reduced cloud spending by 25% by defining a formal process for creating cloud resources and enforcing consistent cloud usage across teams and servicesIn collaboration with the Chief Architect, I led a successful modernization effort to transition our legacy monolithic code base to cloud-hosted microservices in AWS. MMIT is a product, solutions and advisory company bringing transparency to pharmacy and medical benefit information. As head of engineering, led an Agile-based turnaround of the engineering organization from an unfocused group of developers responding to the latest product issue or emergency to a disciplined set of focused teams delivering to clearly defined sprint commitments. Managed an organization of close to 60 engineers across 10 teams, local and remote.Partnered with the Product team to improve the predictability of roadmap deliverables by 100% with the introduction of well-defined and articulated product backlogs, story grooming and sprint planning sessions. With a better understanding of what is required, teams are able to properly plan their sprints, make their commitments and deliver on those commitments in a consistent fashion.Together with the VP of Quality, implemented a shift-left process of automated code reviews, automated testing and Quality Gates to ensure that issues are caught as early in the process as possible. For one team, this resulted in a 30% decrease of items needing rework and, across all teams, reduced the time needed for review of Pull Requests.Managed the process of transitioning from one off-shore vendor to another, significantly reducing expenses while minimizing impact to existing product commitments. Company has grown from 140 employees to 550+ during my tenure.Managed up to ten Agile development teams, including on-shore and off-shore. Helped guide the transition from a hybrid development methodology to one that follows Agile guidelines and practices. Implemented formalized career paths and guidance so that clear goals can be set, measured and achieved.Transformed engineering practices from an archaic legacy model to one that embraces modern CI/CD practice. Unit tests, regression tests and integration tests are automatically executed at every stage of deployment.Introduced automated static security scans and code quality scans along with standardized metrics for success.Partnered with Release Engineering team to significantly reduce the number of Sev 1 rollbacks in Production through the introduction of release meetings and a robust process for ensuring that quality metrics are met.In conjunction with the DevOps team, began the process of migrating legacy applications to AWS. Principia SFP is a comprehensive software solution for the end-to-end management of structured finance investments. The system runs under Solaris and is implemented primarily in C++ (with some Java and scripting languages) using Qt and Motif for the GUI. All data is stored in an Oracle database. During my tenure at Principia I have designed and implemented numerous components of the system across multiple releases. In addition, I have been responsible for the direction and management of multiple project teams.

As Project Leader for the MBS development effort, led a team of five developers in the implementation and enhancement of new and existing data feeds servicing Reuters Bond Window.

For the F/X Front-End Systems Group, was responsible tor developing an Interface between the PC LAN-based front-end deal capture system and the back-end Unix System.

Worked on the Electronic Brokerage System (EBS), an anonymous deaIing system based on Quotron's F/X Trader platform.

Participated in the development of the Edison Plant Planning Systems used to control the production and distribution of the New York Tirnes.

Worked on critical portions of Quotron's Foreign Exchange Trader product (F/X Trader).
